What is the name of medical shoes

Shoes for doctors - People in White

Doctors spend most of their working time on their feet. Because of this, high demands are placed on medical footwear:

  • shoes should be as comfortable as possible and repeat the shape of the foot;
  • anti-slip sole;
  • breathable material;
  • flexible and elastic sole;
  • round wide sock;
  • perforated top.

If the shoes will be used in the operating room, even stricter requirements are imposed on them - the sole must be antistatic, and the shoes themselves must be suitable for disinfection. It is forbidden to wear shoes with soles made of ordinary rubber or plastic in the operating room.

You can determine the name of medical shoes based on the material from which they are made.

Clogs

Almost 90% of medical footwear models can be called clogs.

Initially, "clogs" were leather shoes on a thick wooden platform or heels. For the poorest peasants, it could be shoes made entirely of wood. Over time, shoes were transformed into light shoes or slippers with massive soles.

Modern clogs are shoes made of leather, leather substitute or polymer materials on a thick sole or wedge. Since these shoes optimally distribute the load on the foot, clogs have become the favorite shoes of doctors.

Advantages of leather clogs:

  • natural, breathable upper material;
  • an insole that follows the shape of the foot;
  • optimal wedge height, which prevents the risk of developing diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

In the assortment of "People in white" you can buy medical shoes for women and men:

  • Tellus, a unisex model with a flat sole, thickened toe and flip-up strap;
  • Lena, women's clogs on wedges with a height of 4-5 cm. They allow you to look feminine and elegant even at work.
  • Yana, women's clogs with a flip-up strap and a 3-4 cm wedge. There are many color options available.
  • Ionel, men's clogs with perforated upper, non-slip sole and flip-up strap.

Clogs (crocs)

Crocs are a comfortable and durable analogue of leather clogs. These are soft shoes made of polymer materials - rubber, EVA, CoqAir, etc. Crocs got their name thanks to the company that first established the production of such shoes - Crocs.

The first clogs made of polymer materials appeared in 2002.

In stores and on the market, you can find different models of such shoes - from rubber ones (average price 250 hryvnias) to clogs made of various types of polymeric breathable materials (average price - 599-1500 hryvnias).

Rubber shoes are not suitable for everyday work, as they do not allow air to pass through at all. They will be hot and slippery to work indoors. Rubber shoes are most often bought for work in the country.

Doctors, on the other hand, most often choose shoes made of materials that are more pleasant to the body, resembling foam. Most manufacturers try to develop and patent their own material that meets the highest hygienic requirements.

For example, the assortment of "Men in White" includes TM Coqui shoes. Clogs are made of the patented CoqAir breathable material.

Features of Coqui shoes:

  • flexible;
  • takes the shape of the foot under the influence of body temperature;
  • waterproof;
  • easy to care for.

The Belgian company Oxypas has developed its version of the material - thermoplastic elastomer. The material is resistant to high temperature and chemical exposure.

Characteristics of Oxypas shoes:

  • elastic;
  • wear-resistant;
  • withstands long static loads;
  • non-slip antistatic sole;
  • insole with shock-absorbing properties.

Sneakers

So far, the habit of wearing sneakers at work has not spread among doctors in Ukraine. Despite the comfort of these shoes, they do not allow enough air and do not meet the rules of asepsis.

Moreover, in the USA, they are very popular in many clinics. Recently, the Nike company developed a special model of sneakers for doctors, calling its audience people "who become heroes every day."

Sneakers were tested in one of the children's hospitals. During the "test drive" attention was paid to such important indicators as the level of comfort during long-term wear and the anti-slip properties of the floor. Another important detail is that the sneakers will have such a convenient fastener that it will be easy to put them on with one hand.

The shoes will go on sale in early December. The profit from the sale of the new Nike model is promised to be given to the hospital where the shoes were tested.

How to care for medical shoes

Methods of shoe care depend on the material of manufacture.

Leather clogs cannot be washed, it is enough to periodically wipe them from the outside with a damp cloth and apply shoe cream or wax in a timely manner. To refresh shoes from the inside, you can wipe them with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. After wiping, it is necessary to leave the shoes to "rest" for at least a day. Such care will help to get rid of the unpleasant smell.

Clogs made of polyvinyl chloride and other polymeric materials can be wiped with a sponge with a soapy solution. Such shoes practically do not get dirty, so they do not require special care.

If the shoes were deformed after improper wearing or storage, you can return them to their attractive appearance with the help of a hair dryer. You just need to heat the clog a little with a hair dryer and give it the required shape. After cooling, the clogs will be like new!

Most models of Oxypas TM clogs can not only be washed, but also sterilized in an autoclave, subjected to ultraviolet or chemical sterilization.
